The Porthcawl Carnival dates back to 1957 and was admirably organised by Porthcawl Round Table up until the mid 1990’s. Many former members of Porthcawl Round Table are still around the town!! You will see them on the field running the tombola stall and they now go under the banner of 41 Club. Their dear lady wives ‘Porthcawl Tangent Club’ have been stalwart attendees supplying the afternoon tea for our guests and dignitaries.

            The current committee called Porthcawl Buckaneers are a small group of volunteers who now organise this event in a tide of changing legal and policy rules for such events.

Next year, with the Queen's jubilee and the Olympics we plan to hold the carnival as a special event.

On Thursday 11th of August 2011 we are holding an 'open' meeting. We are asking members of the community to come ot the Hi Tide Inn at 8pm to discuss any issues regarding next year's event.

We will assist as much as we can for anyone entering a lorry float. We will supply the lorry, insurance at our cost. If you have any other queries please contact us.
